Atlatls are ancient weapons that preceded the bow and arrow in most parts of the world and are one of humankind’s first mechanical inventions. An atlatl is essentially a stick with a handle on one end and a hook or socket that engages a light spear or “dart” on the other. The flipping motion of the atlatl propels the dart much faster and farther than it could be thrown by hand alone.
ANNOUNCEMENT: CALL FOR ENTRY
ALONE: SEASON 12
ALL WAA MEMBERS ARE INVITED! READ BELOW:
My name is Quinn Fegan and I’m the Casting Director for the Alone series on History. If you’re unfamiliar, ALONE is a unique wilderness program where participants are challenged with living off the land with minimal gear, completely on their own, all while self-filming and self-narrating their journey.
We’re currently casting for our 12th season and I’ve been on the search for amazing individuals with incredible traditional bowhunting and atlatl skills. I saw the WAA website and wondered if you would be interested, or if there was anyone in your world that you may recommend.
I’m happy to chat further about the details of the series and timeline if this is something you or some other folks from the association might be interested in. Thanks!
