This year the REARC meetings are scheduled for October 25th and 26th in historic Fredericksburg, Virginia. The Center for Historic Preservation at the University of Mary Washington (1301 College Avenue, Fredericksburg, VA 22401) will host the Friday academic conference and presentation sessions on many fascinating topics and research experiments including ancient paint recipes, cooking, pottery, atlatls, and more. On Saturday, REARC craftspeople will hold a variety of demonstrations/workshops at the historic Ferry Farm site – George Washington’s childhood farm (268 King’s Highway, Fredericksburg, VA, 22405). Conference participants will have the opportunity to take part in these activities while touring this important historic site. The wide range of Saturday activities will include hide tanning, flintknapping, and a workshop on Atlatl dart throwing in the morning and early afternoon for conference participants, followed by ISAC flights in the afternoon open to the public and for all who are interested.
